Johann Josef Boker studied art history, classical archeology and history universities in Cologne, Munster and Oxford. His habilitated in 1986 in Hannover - his research field was "Medieval and Modern Architecture." After that, he was a professor at the University of Toronto, at the University of Bochum and at the McGill University in Montreal. Since 2005, Boker is director of the Institute of Building of the University of Karlsruhe."
