Internnally the front end paper has been cut out and this is the only serious flaw with the book. Half title has quite heavy offsetting. Undated c1890. 4to, viii + pp224 plus 8 pages of publications to rear, complete with fold-out colour map and b/w engravings and illustrations throughout. Hardcover no dust jacket. Pictorial brown cloth binding in black, gilt and white in very good condition with a little shelf wear to top & tail of spine and a little rubbing to tips and edges of spine. Inside colour map in excellent condition, blank gift slip pasted over writing to ffe paper with a few spots of foxing throughout, more so to prelims, however all full edge gilt and illustrations in very good condition. a nice early copy written by the Marquis, Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883.

The author was married to Queen Victoria's daughter Louise, and was Governor General of Canada for a time in his 30s. He was a prolific writer on Canada and on his travels. Size: 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall.

Light tanning, light foxing and light soiling to first few and to last few pages. Overall, the book is in a fair condition.
