The return intended to show the numbers and names of owners of land of one acre and upwards, annual estimated gross of rental property, number of owners of land of less that one acre and the estimated extent of commons and waste land in each county. Volume one covers Bedford to Norfolk, including Devon, Essex, Lancaster and many others in England. Volume two covers Northampton to York, East, West and North Riding, along with Anglesey to Radnor in Wales. The tables include the name of the owner, the address of the owner, the extent of lands and the gross estimated rental. An important primary source. Nice to see a copy that is not ex library. In a half calf binding. Externally, sound with slight rubbing and bumping to corners and head and tail of spine. Previous owner's bookplate to front pastedown. Front hinge of volume I is strained but firm and rear hinge of volume two is detached with backstrip lifted and closed tear to rear end paper. Internally, firmly bound with pages bright and clean. Very Good. book.
