It essentially covers the years before 1820s and the first photograph taken in 1826 through to about 1914. Condition: Both book and dustwrapper are in good solid condition, with some tanning to the page edges. The contents are clean and with secure binding.

Giarraputo was a gay Boston poet who went to Harvard with Frank O'Hara and Robin Blaser. Although he did not become a well-known poet he did teach poetry to the young black community which the mayor of Boston eventually proclaimed a day named in honor of Giarraputo.
