Light browning, rebound in modern half calf with marbled boards, gilt motifs and gilt lettered labels to spines. Lewis Strange Wingfield (1842--1891), traveller, actor, writer and painter. He travelled in various parts of the east, and was one of the first Englishmen to journey in the interior of China. The above was his first published work. US$248.

Lewis Strange Wingfield, 1842-1891, youngest son of the 6th Lord Powerscourt, was an actor, writer, traveller and artist. He was one of the earliest Englishmen to visit the interior of China. This work on Algeria was his first published book. In 1884, Wingfield travelled with the British army in Sudan, 1884.
